Vivek, our founder, is very passionate about educating and empowering people. He holds an MBA Degree in Operations Management from Symbiosis Institute of Operations Management and Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling from the Prestigious Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS). Additionally, he is International Certified in Emotional Intelligence & Career Coaching. He has worked with some of the World’s Top Companies in their respective field like General Mills, Swisslog (MBA Internship) and India’s Best Social Science Institute – TISS. He has gained over a decade’s worth of experience across various domains like Social Entrepreneurship, Supply Chain, Operations Management, Market Research, Vocational Education, Skills Development Training, Coaching and Career Counselling.
He came to know about his passion while working for a social project during his MBA. He along with his friends helped to start a small business of hand wash, floor cleaner & candle making for a group of poor women staying in one of the slums of Nashik. They had taught the women with the required business skills like Finance, Marketing, Supply Chain etc., supported them and made them independent in a period of one year. Confidence of women was boosted and later they had sold around 2 Lakh Candles in 1.5 year. He had never experienced this great amount of joy and satisfaction earlier in his career.
During his MBA Placements, he got selected in General Mills. He was handling the Age Management Process (Supply Chain) of North America for the 5 Business Units which were assigned to him. Everything seemed perfect – Company, Work Profile, Package, Transport Facility etc. But the one thing which he felt missing was job satisfaction. So, he decided to take a risk, left his corporate job in order to follow his passion.
After a few months, he was selected in Tata Institute of Social Sciences. He got an opportunity to implement a Vocational Education Course “Bachelor of Vocation” across India. B.Voc is a new course in India, where the practical component (60%) is given more focus than the theoretical component (40%), so that the students pursuing this course will acquire more Skills and will be Industry Ready.
He handled the entire Academic Operations of 3 Verticals across Pan India right from Monitoring Curriculum & Content Development; Admissions; Internships; Overall Quality; Examination and Certification Process. He has managed student strength of 1800+ enrolled in various courses like B.Voc, PG Diploma and Certificate Courses at Pan India Level. He has also experience of developing the curriculum as per the National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF).
While working with TISS, he used to meet a lot of 12th std pass out students who used to enquire for various B.Voc courses. Most of the students were confused or were not aware of their strengths. He used to guide them to select the right course as per their strengths & interests. But there were few students which he found difficult to guide who had less exposure to extracurricular activities; unaware of different career fields & their own personal strengths. So, he decided to learn different psychological career assessment techniques used in India and across the globe.
In order to understand the students better, he completed his Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling and International Certification in Career Counselling & Emotional Intelligence.
During his Counselling Internship in NASEOH, he got the opportunity to work with children/people with learning disabilities. He Conducted Dance & Music Workshop for Small Children and Team Building & Life Skills Activity for Youngsters. Also, conducted a Stress Management Workshop for Parents of children with learning disabilities.
Recognising his own ability to connect with people from different backgrounds & to apply skills across various domains which is a must in this fast pacing world. He was looking for a platform where he can share his rich knowledge & experience with people from different backgrounds. So, he decided to start his own organization and that’s how Furtherise was born.
